Job Brief
AB Electrical has an opportunity for an enthusiastic fully qualified 18th Edition Electrician to become part of our growing team in this new and existing hybrid role. The primary role involves you carrying out surveys in relation to all aspects of electrical contracting for commercial and domestic prospects. This includes undertaking technical surveys of their premises, system design, and being responsible for the technical aspects of a quotation. You will also be required to carry out electrical works from time to time.
Estimating 85%
Electrical works 15%
You will be trained on Fuzion 4’s operating system and will be expected to gain an awareness of various fire and security systems, as well as learning industry terminology.
This is a team-based role, but the ability to work confidently and effectively on your own initiative will be paramount. You must be well presented, a quick learner, and able to hit the ground running in a fast-paced environment.
Duties can change from time to time subject to client’s requirements and change to the marketplace.
Contractual Information
Job Type: Full-time, Permanent, Office and Site Based
Hours of Work: Monday – Friday, 8.30am – 5pm with a 30minute unpaid break for lunch
Salary: £35,000 – £37,000
Sign-on Bonus: 10% of the annual salary (subject to qualifying terms)
You will receive 22 days of paid holiday plus all UK statutory Bank Holidays, which increases with time served. You will also be auto-enrolled onto the workplace pension scheme after successful completion on 3-month probation, which you can opt out of should you choose.

Responsibilities & Duties
The role of estimating includes ensuring that the right equipment is put into a quotation using the management/CRM system to assist you. This relates to pricing and putting together the product and technical elements of the quotation within an agreed timeframe for the prospect. This involves working with and communicating with the Sales Support Executive who will send your signed quotation off to the prospect and do the follow up. You will be asked from time to time to either talk to or meet a prospect to answer technical questions about the quotation and explain the solution you chose.
- Provide quotations for small remedial repair works (internal)
- Undertake estimates of tenders (including PQQ’s) and production of quotations
- Technical surveys of client’s premises
Education & Qualifications Required
- City & Guilds 2356 NVQ Level 3 Electrical Installation
- City & Guilds 2357 NVQ Level 3 Electrical Installation or equivalent
- City & Guilds 2382-18 18th Edition Update
- City & Guilds 2391-52 Test & Inspection or equivalent
Experience
You need a solid engineering background, with a comprehensive technical and practical understanding of the electrical regulations BS:7671. This includes the correct methods of installation. Other types of experience include
- Have served a recognised apprenticeship, or demonstrate time served experience
- Have basic IT skills: MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook
- Have experience in industrial, commercial, and domestic working environments
- Have a good understanding of BS:7671
- Must have a good understanding of the Microsoft Office suite, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
Skills & Competencies Required (Technical & Practical Experience)
- Commercial, industrial, and domestic applications
- Single and three phase installations
- Single and three phase distribution systems
- Installation of cable management systems including plastic & steel conduit, trunking, and cable tray
- Ability to accurately find and diagnose faults on electrical systems
- Understanding and appropriate application of the regulations
- Knowledge of, or be willing to learn the NICEIC online certification process
- Emergency / escape lighting
- Installation of lighting and power systems
- Portable appliance testing
- Data cable installation
- Fluent in the English language, both spoken and written, as well as being literate and numerate.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Have the ability to correspond clearly, concisely, and politely with administrators, technicians, customers, and external organisations, whether by telephone or written communication.
- Have the skills to be multi-faceted and the ability to carry out numerous duties across various departments.
- Be confident and efficient in managing own time whilst carrying out a multitude of tasks.

Essential Requirements
- Full UK Driving Licence
- ECS Card (with at least 6 months remaining)
- 10 of years-experience in the Electrical industry
